Summer in a nutshell

If i were to sum up my summer this year and describe it in one word, it would be phenomenal. Seriously, this has been the best summer yet. Totally opposite to what was expected, and I am extremely thankful for that...for expecting that it would be the worst summer of my life, because things always appear to be better when you expect less.

I feel that I have grown so much. In many ways I have seen more of the world, met many more people, realised and learnt so much, that i leave home this year feeling that my soul is enriched. I must thank God for his revelation.

Some visuals:

This summer ....

1. I Worked for the very first time at Cheu Clinic for a month.

Really good experience and it really opens your eyes to a lot of things. Saw some unpleasant things too but I like weird stuff. Furthermore, I think it's really interesting to see someone have their ear syringed, or test urine for offshore workers and divers.

Sorry no pictures as it didn't occur to me to take any at that point.

2. Uncle Cheu took me to Kuching with his family for the Universiti Malaya Class of 1982 reunion.

We stayed in The Hilton and we got an awesome view of the river.

Uncle Cheu with some of his mates from Uni

The place was very well decorated. The rose petals and orchids are real! The dinner was rainforest themed, hence the flowers and leaves.

Auntie Selina and I.
A leopard print dress is not exactly 'rainforest' but sometimes u gotta bend the rules a lil'!

All in all, I had a great time meeting uncle's friends. They are such a funny bunch!

2. I Interned with SSB

Hrm... let me see. Working was boringboringboringboringboringboringboringboringboring. lol
I spent two months working here and liked it quite a lot despite how I was so not used to it when i started. From this i have gained a lot in terms of self development and also met some nice people. It also made me realise how life is more complicated than it seems, but at the end of the day, i believe life is however complicated you make it.

Can't believe i had to desk hop. That made working so much more inconvenient. This room was my comfort zone as i like to put it. And the person behind me is my source of comfort. =)

Tea time for the employee(s) who feel they need a break, in addition to breakfast time in the morning too. *then that leaves about 6 hours of working time. Employees are really overpaid for the amount of effort they put into their work it seems. Perhaps the best time of the day when you are in good company.

Random drink at cafe with Andy, Jonathan and Alan the day before i left for UK.

4. I had my 19th birthday dinner at KokChee, my favourite restaurant of all time.

Title is self explanatory i guess. No need for wishy washy *gosh i wonder where i picked up this term from lol.

Is mata juling hereditary?

Yin and Yang

Candid moment

Thank you John for the cake. I would kill for a piece right now.

Just because the colours are nice.

Thanks for all the thoughtful wishes on facebook and friendster and sending me texts too. Love you all!

5. We went to Curtin Open Day

Nothing really interesting here. Met some new people, step foot in the campus for the first time, too many bloody people, too bloody hot, too bloody hot. Perhaps the only reason we went was because we heard that we could win Ipods and Nintendo Wiis if we took a quiz and answered the questions right. Sadly they were the prizes for the lucky draw. And I NEVER have any luck with lucky draws. The only thing i ever got was a table fan.

With Sunny and Uncle Johnny Leong who's son Alan is now in Manchester on Shell Scholarship!

6. Went down to KL to see Lynnie and Boey

Thanks for the great time and the sinfully delicious brownie omg!! And thanks Boey for your hospitality and your time and Lynnie too, for coming out to lunch despite your tight lunch hours and the treat too. Really appreciate it!

Lynnie, I look like a giant next to you. And i look spastic.

Brown bear.

Chocolate cake OMG!

6. I had super good food at KokChee for my farewell thanks to Mr John Tang.

Now, i have another reason to love KokChee even more.

John in his new old Dunhill. Those are big boss specs don't play play.

The big kid, my Ricky gor gor.

HAHAHAHA

7. I hope i managed to lose some weight

I'm sure you know how much of a shocker i went home as. I basically devoted t this summer to lose weight! You have no idea..

June 2007

September 2007

Okay la.. Of course i chose a pic of me looking damn fat and the thinnest pic i could find of myself. And no, i didn't use photoshop so they are all real! Though the two pictures aren't comparable as my face is angled differently but i still lost bout 8 kg ok!

So there it is, in a nutshell. I'll throw in some more pictures should i have a little free time on my hands.

Random thought:
Oh and how i miss my darling so...

I hope you are behaving you naughty girl!

Happy Birthday to...

THE BROWN BEAR!!!

Too bad you're not in the UK or else we would go to Hooters and clean the chicken meat from their bones. I know your addiction to the chicken wings there! Haha.

You and your funky glasses on Malaysian Night.

Thanks for being a brilliant host when i went down to KL. And for all the good memories here in Notts. BBQ, Krispy Kreme and all. Speaking of which, i might courier you some for your birthday! Lol

Remember this? lol

Hope that job is not tying you down too much. Enjoy work life! I know it's tougher than student life, but life has to start sooner or later, and you are great at what you do. Process and Project Engineer, fuiyoh!

Anyhoo, hope you have an awesome one. Celebrate to the max! And save that piece of cake for me =)

Remember, no to being emo on your bday.

Not settling in ok

Yes, bout time isn't it.

My room is in a mess and I have a box of stuff missing. I can perhaps figure out what is missing already since i've opened the other boxes and discovered some stuff that weren't there. I want my box back because all my shoes are in there and my hairdryer and my clock too.

I want to go back to Miri where all the people I love are. It sucks to come to a place, athough not foreign, but feel so alone cos you gotta do everything on your own. Getting around is so hard and everthing is so expensive.

I want to eat all my favourite foods. Mum's cooking and porridge at Wong's. Do my favourite activities, playing badminton every Monday and Wednesday, hill climbing on Sunday.

I want to be able to go around freely, without having to think of expensive bus fares and waiting at bus stops in the cold. I don't want to go back to carrying bags of heavy groceries all the way back with numb and blistered fingers as a result.

All things in my room have sentimental value. Be it just daddy buying it for me, or mummy washing and ironing and folding it for me, or roni lending it to me. And when i think of these, my eyes water. When i read all the goodbye messages people sent me on my last few hours in Malaysia, tears roll down my cheeks.

This sucks and i want to go home.
I hope everybody at home misses me as much as i miss them too.

Love you all.

two down three to go

is probably the phrase on most of my coursemates' MSN messenger personal message right now.

Went to Big Wok with a few of them for a dinner before everyone leaves. Usually this kind of thing would happen after exams end but Justin is leaving on the 2nd back to KL! That bugger is leaving earlier than me and i thought no one was leaving before me. lol But i wouldn't have made it if it was on the 1st anyway cos i have a another dinner, and on the 2nd i have 2 BBQs and i'm leaving on the 4th so i want to do some shopping on the 3rd before i go back!

Okok. This is not the real reason why i decided to blog though. The real reason is THIS...

I am blogging in the name of Sizzlin' SEXINESS!!!

Because......

JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE IS IN NOTTINGHAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Like OMG OMG OMG can u believe it????!!!! This is the closest i've ever come to someone so big!! And i can't believe i am NOT going to watch him!!!!!!!! Like, this is my only chance and i'm not going to watch him... cos obviously he is never going to come to Malaysia.

*Gasp* Do you know what that means?? It means that this very very moment, he is somewhere in Nottingham! Shopping? Or chillaxing in his hotel? Omg i wonder which hotel he's staying in. The Hilton???? Oh my goodness the grounds i walk on are the grounds Justin Timberlake has walked on!! Justin Timberlake is within 8 miles of me!!!

And WHY WHY WHY am i stupid enough not to go?? Because of exams?! Dude this is The King of Sex, dorky guy next door metamophosised into the Prince of Pop!!! And i'm not even studying anyway.

I WANT TO GO!!!!
Sad Sad Sad

This beats whatever lame Jazz Fest by the beach man!! Lol

No Lluis Coloma can beat this!!!

To make me feel even worse Beyonce is coming in June and i'm not going to watch her either.

This sucks monkey's ass.

BIG TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
